With technology changing so quickly, who's to say it's completely harmless? If I am a big brand, I don't want my campaigning out there in the open to see. My competitors can now see exactly what I did, how much I spent, where people accessed it, etc. to see when my people (who worked very hard) launched something successful.

Bitly's informational platform does not allow you to put administrator rights on the users of the account, and does not encrypt the information, so everything is public. Who's stopping spiders from going out and collecting all of your campaign analytics?

Oh: Captix by 44Doors. Their platform DOES encrypt business analytics information for shorturls, QR codes, and SMS, down to the precise location of the click, in real time.

In fact, Captix was the first one to pioneer this technology nearly four years ago... Bitly Enterprise began picking up steam just this July with their investment. But they still haven't encrypted anything.

Interesting stuff; who knows where technology will lead us next.
